I started my career in marketing and public relations in 1999 at a PR agency in Richmond after graduating from Virginia Tech. During my time there, I traveled a lot of the country, working on campaigns for national brands such as Advil, Altec Lansing, and T-fal cookware. Fast forward to 2016, when Sarah and I started Hive - one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Sarah’s experience and knowledge of design services, combined with my background in PR/marketing is a win-win for our clients. I’m grateful for our amazing team and the many clients we’ve worked with over the years who have entrusted us with their branding, websites and marketing campaigns.
focus areas:
strategic planning, public relations, brand positioning and messaging, copywriting
hometown:
Staunton, Virginia (currently living in Crozet, Virginia)
favorite book:
The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom. It was difficult to get through parts of it because of the raw nature of the book, but it has stuck with me for years.
staff superlative:
I have a few:
The extrovert - Even though I’m 50/50 introvert/extrovert, I work with those who are 99/1 (kidding, sort of)
The eagle eye because of my almost-obsessive attention to detail
Most likely to tell you there’s lipstick on your teeth because of my (sometimes brutal) honesty
on the weekend, you’ll find me:
Spending time with my family and friends, playing tennis or pickle ball, or out and about enjoying our local restaurants, wineries, and breweries. And, let’s be honest, running errands - because all of us working parents know those don’t get done during the week!
